Texas Hold'em
poker
or Texas Holdem
poker or just holdem poker game is the most popular form of
poker in the
world. It’s what you see played on TV, and it’s what determines each year’s
poker champ at the World Series of Poker. If you’re new to poker, this may be
the easiest style of poker. Bets are limited in pot limit holdem poker and you
can bet it all anytime in No limit texas holdem poker game.
Omaha High and
Omaha 8 or Better poker are closely
related to Texas Holdem
poker game. The main difference is that you are dealt four
cards instead of two, and your five card hand must be formed by two cards from
your hand and three community cards. Strategies for winning differ significantly
from Texas Hold’em poker.
Seven Card Stud
poker and Seven Card Stud 8 or Better
poker
are very different from either
Texas Hold’em or
Omaha poker games. Each
poker player is dealt his
or her own hand, and if you don’t like the hand you’ve been dealt you throw it
in the pile. As a result, each
poker player still in the hand must keep track of
discarded cards so they can better estimate their chances and calculate other
player's odds.
Five Card Draw
In this poker game, each player receives five cards face-down. The player to the left of the big
blind must call the size of the big blind, raise an amount equal to the size
of the bet (the big blind at this time) or fold their hand. Betting progresses
clockwise until a round is made where all active players call the last bet.
